Enabling network-wide clinical credentialing through Cgov’s Central Practitioner Register
Tuesday, 3 March 2026
Health practitioners increasingly work across multiple hospitals within a region, yet health services continue to face challenges sharing clinical practitioner credentialing information efficiently between sites. Duplication of effort, administrative delays, and inconsistent processes can create unnecessary burden for practitioners, credentialing teams, and decision makers alike.
Cgov addresses this challenge by offering an opportunity for health service networks and regions to enhance collaboration and operational efficiency through its Central Practitioner Register for clinical practitioner credentialing.
A centralised, secure credentialing model
Cgov’s Central Practitioner Register solution is a secure, region or network-wide solution designed to simplify and streamline credentialing across all hospitals within a health service network or region. It enables health services to adopt a coordinated approach while preserving each site’s governance and decision-making authority.
How the Central Practitioner Register works
- Primary site submission: Practitioners submit their credentialing information to their primary site of application for assessment and approval
- Single source of truth: Once approved, the practitioner’s credentialing profile is securely stored in the Central Practitioner Register
- Multi-site credentialing: If the practitioner wishes to work at another hospital within the same network or region, they do not need to resubmit their credentialing information
- Access with consent: Credentialing officers at the additional site, with the practitioner’s consent, can access the previously approved credentialing profile, review relevant information, and proceed with local approval
- Local autonomy maintained: Each site retains full control over its scope of practice, governance requirements, and approvals, and may request additional site-specific information where required.
Delivering tangible benefits across the network
This shared model significantly reduces duplication of effort and streamlines workflows for practitioners, credentialing officers, and approvers. Practitioners benefit from a faster, more convenient onboarding experience, while health services gain improved efficiency, consistency, and transparency in their credentialing processes.
Seamless integration with existing Cgov solutions
For hospitals already using Cgov’s Credentialing solution, existing credentialing data can be seamlessly migrated into the Central Practitioner Register. New hospitals within the network/region can also be onboarded efficiently, enabling a common platform that supports both current and future members of the health service network.
Supporting executive and governance priorities
By enabling a coordinated, region/network wide credentialing approach, the Central Practitioner Register supports key executive priorities, including:
- Improved practitioner experience
- Stronger governance and compliance
- Reduced administrative overhead
- Optimised use of clinical and operational resources.
As health regions/networks continue to evolve, Cgov’s Central Practitioner Register provides a practical, scalable solution to support collaboration and consistency while respecting site level autonomy.
